About me:
The Okavango Delta is my "tourism laboratory". I have conducted wildlife-based tourism research in the Okavango Delta since 1998. My research focus is on tourism development, rural livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. My goal is to understand how tourism can be used as a tool to achieve sustainable rural livelihoods and biodiversity conservation. I adopted this approach under the assumption that tourism in destination areas should be developed following the principles of sustainable tourism. These principles among other issues promote a tourism industry that is socio-cultural, economic and environmental sensitive in destination areas like the Okavango Delta.
