nlandaMr Mendel Nlanda has been appointed to the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration with effect from December 1, 2015. Mr. Nlanda succeeds Mr Dawid Katzke whose term ended at the end of November 2015. Prior to his appointment to the position of DVC F&A, Mr. Nlanda served as Director of Financial Services at the University of Botswana for many years. He is an insightful and highly experienced Chartered Accountant and Administrator. Mr. Nlanda is a fellow member in good standing of both Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants and Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Mr. Nlanda successfully completed a course on Strategic Financial Management in Higher Education offered by UNESCO/International Institute for Educational Planning [IIEP] in Paris, France. Apart from serving as Director of Finance, Mr. Nlanda served and continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority [BAOA]; an entity established by an Act of Parliament. Mr. Nlanda chairs the Audit Practice Review Committee of the BAOA Board. He also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Standard Setting Committee of the BAOA Board, and as a member of the Education and Training Committee of the BAOA Board Mr Nlanda is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Development Bank. He serves in two committees of that board, namely; the Risk and Credit Committees. He is the Principal Officer of the University of Botswana Pension Fund. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the University of Botswana Foundation. At the University, he also serves as a member of several statutory and non-statutory committees, and in those capacities at the Botswana College of Agriculture. In addition, Mr Nlanda was Deputy Chairman of UB Tender Committee, which adjudicates tenders for both capital development projects and recurrent expenditure. Following the appointment to the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor, he has now become the chairman of this committee.
